COPIED FROM THE FEDERAL DELTA DENTAL WEBSITE.
On December 31, 2018, the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP) contract and dental benefits under the current Department of Defense program will end. However, dental coverage for military retirees and family members will be offered under the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). This change, contained in the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA 2017), means that your military retiree patients and their family members will need to select a new FEDVIP plan in the fall of this year for coverage effective January 1, 2019. We want as many military retirees as possible to have an easy transition into the FEDVIP. It’s our goal to simplify the transition from the TRDP to the FEDVIP for both the military retirees as well as the dentists who treat them. In order to prevent a gap in coverage, TRDP patients and their family members must take action and enroll during the 2018 Federal Benefits Open Season at between November 12, 2018 and December 10, 2018. Delta Dental offers coverage in the FEDVIP as well with two coverage options available for your patients. Patients can find more information at TRICARE.benefeds.com. CALL Kathy if you have any questions Something improtant to note. Some insurance policies are offering Enhanced Preventive Benefits. If you have Delta Dental of Michigan, Kathy can check for you. These enhanced benefits may cover additional ( more than the two normal) cleanings if you have certain health conditions. Including Pregnancy and heart conditions.

I will not be accepting any Medicare plans in 2017 and beyond. The rules preclude me from accepting any medicare or medicaid patients. This office cannot possible follow the rules that include providing 15 different languages if we want to accept medicare. This unfortunately includes the Blue Cross Medicare Advantage program some of you have. Please call if you have concerns. Life at the office is returning to normal. Kathy is back! Cancer treatments are almost completed. She missed all of you, and apprciated all the notes, cards, gifts, food and prayers!
